Library Extends Weekend Hours After Petition
MILLBROOK — The Millbrook Public Library will open on Sundays starting December 6, after more than 1,200 residents signed a petition asking for weekend hours.
The library board approved the change Monday night in a unanimous vote. Sunday hours will run from noon to 5 p.m. The extra hours will be covered by shifting two part-time positions and by volunteers from the Friends of the Library group, according to board chair Denise Alvarado.
“People kept telling us the same thing,” Alvarado said. “They work all week. Saturday is for errands. Sunday is the only day they can bring their kids.”
The petition was started in August by Marcy Lin, a nurse and mother of two, who collected signatures at the farmers market. “I figured I’d get a hundred,” she said. “I ran out of clipboards.”

Finally. My kids have been asking for Sunday hours for years.
Thank you for covering this! I still have the clipboards if anyone needs one.
