The loan officer was a hologram named Benny, and Benny was thrilled for them. “Congratulations!” he said, and confetti that wasn’t real fell on Kel’s shoulders. “You’re pre-approved for one used habitation vessel, as is, no refunds, no warranty, nine hundred percent APR.”

“That can’t be right,” said Kel. “Nine hundred?”
